The NCL, Inc. Mission:  The mission of National Charity League is to foster mother-daughter relationships in a philanthropic organization committed to community service, leadership development and cultural experiences.

The NCL, Inc. Purpose: The NCL experience inspires and empowers women to succeed as confident, well-rounded and socially aware contributors in their communities.

~NCL currently thrives in local communities through 156 Chapters in 16 states in the US.

~NCL has grown to nearly 39,000 members nationwide!

~NCL has doubled in size in the last 10 years, and further expansion is one of our top goals, making this unique mother-daughter experience available in every community from coast to coast.

~NCL mother and daughter members volunteered a cumulative total of 966,056 hands-on hours directly with philanthropies in their communities in the 2008-2009 fiscal year.  Using the 2008 published statistic that each volunteer hour is worth $20.25, NCL Chapters provided a value of $19,562,634 to communities nationwide!

The Azalea Chapter

Our Chapter was founded in the Spring of 1999, by three women, Betsy Steer, Melinda Moore and Laurie Mai, who shared a common goal of starting a second NCL chapter in the Katy area.  They wanted to do volunteer work with their daughters, but the Katy Chapter was full.  The three women rallied 12 others to meet with them and an officer from NCL headquarters.  The women met the criteria for forming the new chapter and all those attending took leadership roles in the new organization.  When they discussed what name to adopt, Betsy Steer remembers looking out her window and seeing her azaleas in bloom.  The name was unanimously agreed upon.

Our goal in the Azalea chapter is to promote a sense of community responsibility in our daughters that will perpetuate a lifetime of service.  Through our volunteer work, we hope to make the world a better place.

This past year, our Azaleas recorded over 11,000 volunteer hours, serving our Chapter and the Katy Community.
